Seattle Parks and Recreation begins construction of BF Day Playground

Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) is pleased to announce that we have awarded the construction contract to LW Sundstrom for the BF Day Playground renovation project. The entrepreneur will mobilize on site on Monday, November 22, 2021 and anticipate the reopening of the playground by summer 2022. The playground is located in Fremont at 4020 Fremont Ave. N. on the north side of the primary school.

This playground renovation project will replace play equipment and improve the adjacent picnic area, including replacing the water fountain and improving accessibility in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA ) and national safety standards. The play equipment reflects a “nature play” theme and includes slides, swings and balancing equipment.

Funding for this park project is provided by the Seattle Park District. Approved by voters in 2014, the Seattle Park District provides more than $ 47 million per year in long-term funding to address the major maintenance backlog of $ 267 million for Seattle Parks and Recreation as well as other facilities including aquarium and zoo. In addition, it provides funds to improve and rehabilitate community centers, preserve urban forest, carry out daily maintenance of parks and facilities, provide more recreational opportunities for people in underserved communities, provide programs for them. people of all ages and abilities, and acquire and develop new land for the park.
